Old photos can tell many stories if accompanied with a caption saying what it is and where it was situated.
More information can be found by typing in Trove History which will bring up a very interesting site to search the history of many places and things in and around this area.

Fitzroy Shire Council
Back in 1902 the Government of the day decided to setup Shires in place of Divisional Boards and the Fitzroy Shire Council held it's first meeting on the 14 April 1903 with the Chairman being W. Wells. This building was in Denison Street Rockhampton until a new one was built on Quay Street and the Shire Boundries remained until 2003. The main concerns of the Councillors was roads, rates and rubbish and it is much the same these days.
